As part of the lecture series entitled “Applications of text linguistics” we visited RWTH Aachen. We were given the opportunity to tell students of technology communications, linguistics and communication sciences how the theoretical knowledge from their studies is applied to editorial work in practise.
We were able to demonstrate to interested students that some rather dry theories are perfectly applicable to the routine work at an editorial office. Everyone involved was very interested, and everyone enjoyed themselves. At this point we would like to thank Professor Eva-Maria Jakobs for the invitation, and we look forward to meeting those students again.
